I can’t see how a reviewer can expect any credibility if they accept money for their opinions; surely they must realise that the majority of readers would assume some bias towards the payee.

Maybe if they just pay for the review but let you say what you want about the product, but not specifically for a good review. Even if they do let you say what you want, you could still lose some credibility by accepting money.

I’ve been reminded today that I sent copies of my first book to two review sites last summer, but although both confirmed receipt of the books, neither of them have responded with any comments or with the reviews they offered at the time. I’m not sure what to make of that!

I think that not having that loving bond, as I do with my family, people could give constructive criticism with a bit more ease. Of course, I would love for everyone to enjoy my book and say good things about it as well :D , but I do love to hear feedbackl. As Zen said, we need it to improve our writing.

A friend/family member will always be nice when giving you feedback, and while I do love a compliment, I know that there’s no way I can improve without constructive criticism.
