My recent Goodreads Giveaway campaign attracted 411 requests for “New Beginnings: Moving On”, and the two winners should receive their books next week.
Unfortunately, this exercise has revealed an issue with posting personalised copies to readers outside the UK: following the recent increases in Royal Mail postal rates, postage to Canada and the United States is now £7.60 per book!
The Giveaway campaign has therefore cost me around £30, including packaging. Given that my income as an author is negligible at best, I clearly can’t afford to do that again! It’s a shame, as I feel these campaigns are a good way to gain exposure on such sites.
I’m looking into cheaper posting options but in the meantime, I’m fairly sure that Lulu and Amazon – and other online suppliers – offer much better postal rates.
For UK readers – thankfully the postal rate has not increased quite so dramatically, so my offer of personalised copies still stands – see my website for details.
