Petition to stop plans to abolish the Public Lending Right (PLR) organisation

The Public Lending Right (PLR) organisation is a very small and efficient body that collates and coordinates the payments to authors that accrue from library loans of their books.

As part of its move to rid the nation of quangos, the government plans to abolish the PLR – this, despite the fact that the PLR operates well within its budget and does a dedicated job that other bodies would find difficult to do so efficiently.

THERE IS NO GOOD REASON TO ABOLISH THIS BODY.

Please sign this petition, and put pressure on the government to change its mind.
